There are a lot of questions in this list. I get your point: Students show their learning by writing and explaining what they know. These questions are "select the best answer." Where is the individual? If the studnet selects the correct answer, was the choice made by luck or "eliminate the wrong answers?"
I agree that a portfolio of work shwos more about a student's understanding than a number on a test.
