SIX REASONS why this is a free project.... Why is this program offered at no charge to public schools?

Six Reasons why FREE WEBSITES PROJECT is for volunteers (and why it is worth supporting)....  http://tinyurl.com/sunreasons

1.  Teachers don't have time to learn another "new program."   They have enough responsibilities right now and not enough time in the school year to deliver what they want to teach.

2.  Students are capable of building sites.   Why not add "website making" to your list of skills?

3.  A Website opens doors.  When students have a website or a DIGITAL PORTFOLIO, they can compete with students from California.  Guidance counselors like the flexibility of the free website.

4.  A Website says more than a high score on the SAT or a 3.9 GPA.
Look at Abel Thon's website.  Don't you want to interview this guy?   Anyone who can put together a website with four pages, three projects and an internship knows how to focus on what matters the most.  I want people like that on my team.

5.  Schools don't have extra money sitting around.   If there was a "training fee" and a "subscription" fee for this project, schools would not be able to duplicate the successes of High Tech High Schools.

6.  Interesting Projects:  If students have a page on their websites called "PROJECTS," then students are going to look for interesting projects to display.  You can find an interesting project in the FREE EBOOK called "Projects" by Matthew Blazek.  Go ahead, download a free copy of the ebook

It would be possible to tell principals, "It will cost $2000 to train your staff and another $20 per student to set up websites."   In fact, there are companies that charge schools $59 per student.

Instead, let's use Google Sites (free) and the energy and enthusiasm of students to compete with High Tech High.   If students in California can make free websites, then we in Florida can make free websites, too.
